Liverpool Weighing Move for Juventus Winger Federico Chiesa

Liverpool are reportedly contemplating a move for Federico Chiesa, the 26-year-old winger currently at Juventus. Under new manager Thiago Motta, Chiesa has found himself sidelined, raising questions about his future with the Serie A club.

Chiesa, who was a member of Italy’s squad at Euro 2024, has just one year remaining on his contract with Juventus. He was notably absent from the squad for Motta’s first league match against Como and did not feature in the recent game against Hellas Verona.

Liverpool’s sporting director, Richard Hughes, indicated earlier this summer that the club would be “opportunistic” in their approach to transfers. This strategy has seen Liverpool exploring various options, although their interest in Chiesa remains preliminary at this stage.

The Reds are close to finalizing a deal for Valencia goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili but have yet to secure any signings under new manager Arne Slot this summer. Liverpool had also expressed interest in Spain midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but he opted to remain with Real Sociedad.

Chiesa joined Juventus from Fiorentina in 2020 for a fee potentially rising to £54 million. During his tenure with Juventus, he has made 131 appearances and was part of Italy’s Euro 2020-winning squad. However, his recent seasons have been marred by inconsistent form and injuries, affecting his overall contributions.
