Moroccan international midfielder Azzedine Ounahi has officially joined Greek club Panathinaikos on a season-long loan from Olympique de Marseille. The deal, finalized on September 4, 2024, includes a loan fee of €500,000, with Panathinaikos covering Ounahi’s full salary during his time at the club. At the end of the season, Panathinaikos holds the option to make the transfer permanent for a purchase fee of €11.5 million.

Ounahi, 24, rose to international prominence following his stellar performances with Morocco during the 2022 World Cup, where he helped lead his team to the semifinals. Despite joining Marseille in early 2023 and scoring on his debut, he struggled to secure a consistent starting role with the French club. The move to Panathinaikos is expected to provide Ounahi with more regular playing time, including participation in the UEFA Europa Conference League.

Panathinaikos hopes that Ounahi will add strength to their midfield, with his creative playmaking and dynamic presence on the field. As Ounahi continues to represent Morocco at the international level, this loan move provides him an opportunity to showcase his talents on both domestic and European stages.
