Windows 11 2024 Update: A Futuristic Look at the Redesigned User Interface
The Windows 11 2024 update (version 24H2) will be removing several features and apps as part of its latest overhaul. Notably, the Copilot button has been removed from the Taskbar, and instead, it’s being replaced with a new version that functions as a standalone web application. This means that the integration previously available through the Taskbar is no longer part of the system’s default setup, which aims to streamline the overall Taskbar usage and minimize conflicts, such as with the “Show Desktop” button.
Moreover, the Start Menu’s “Recommended” section will now promote Microsoft Store apps by default. Users will also see changes to the Quick Settings flyout, which has now become scrollable to improve navigation among settings. Additionally, Microsoft’s Phone Link integration is getting an update, allowing Android users to see phone status and notifications directly within the Start menu through a new sidebar interface.
Other removals or changes include the simplification of certain System Tray elements, where Microsoft has decided to eliminate features like the bell icon, AM/PM indicators, and the year display to save space. Also, features like Windows Studio Effects, previously available via the Copilot+ PC Control Center, will now be reconfigured in terms of accessibility and visibility across other settings.
These updates indicate Microsoft’s efforts to optimize user experience by retiring some redundant features while enhancing others with newer, integrated functionalities and reducing UI clutter to make Windows 11 more user-friendly and efficient for various types of hardware setups.
