Casino has acknowledged a major network breach on October 5, which forced the company to temporarily close some of infrastructure. Services were disrupted as a result of the breach, although the company is still investigating the full scope of damages. Casio was quick to lock down the system and brought in third-party cybersecurity experts to investigate and advise on how it might ensure future security of its systems.

The company, however, has not confirmed a breach of any sensitive personal or financial information at this point and the investigation is still ongoing. The firm said it has informed the regulators and is also establishing whether any customer data was compromised in this attack.

More significant is the operational delay it caused (most notably; the launch of Casio’s much-anticipated G-Shock watch models on October 17). Ditto with the above, these sorts of passthroughs ought to stay, until everything is completely rectified.

Casio has yet to reveal if ransomware was involved in the incident, and no group has claimed that they were behind the attack. The company is determined not just preventing further occurrences, but also reveals they are still in the midst of researching where and how this breach originated from and what its potential consequences may be.
