Major Microsoft Outage Disrupts Outlook, Teams, and 365 Services Globally
Thousands of Microsoft users around the world were slapped by an outage that prevented their being able to access key services like Outlook, Teams, and Office 365 on October 10, 2024. The reports started in the early morning and then soon expanded to affect email, Teams collaboration and other Microsoft 365 services. Common issues we heard from users were a variety of memory problems and failed launches, with an emphasis on Outlook.
The problem appears to have been a suspected memory management issue, according to Microsoft. They set about promptly to formulate a configuration update solution for this specific problem. Later in the withdrawal, a fix was deployed, and users were asked to restart their Outlook and Teams sessions to restore service (TechRadar)(Enterprise Technology News and Analysis).
Previous reports emerged first in Europe that spread to the U.S. and other regions, as more people logged on to work. For enterprises and professionals dependent on the major productivity tools from Microsoft this disruption caused more than just frustration. Thankfully, however, by the end of day, it was clear that things were trending upward (DesignTAXI).
