Iran Sets Conditions for Cease-Fire with Israel Amid Regional Escalation

Iran has outlined two key conditions for Israel to achieve a cease-fire, as tensions in the Middle East continue to rise. According to Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, any cease-fire must occur simultaneously in both the Gaza Strip and Lebanon. Additionally, Iran demands that Israel respects the rights of the Lebanese people and acknowledges Hezbollah’s role in the region. These conditions were presented during a meeting between Araghchi and Lebanon’s interim Prime Minister Nayib Mikati in Beirut, where Iran expressed its support for Lebanon’s resistance against Israel.

Iran’s stance comes in response to Israel’s recent actions, including the ground invasion of southern Lebanon and attacks on Iranian-backed Hezbollah positions. In parallel, Iran has retaliated by launching missile strikes against Israel, further escalating hostilities in the region. The Iranian government has emphasized that while they support efforts to establish a cease-fire, it must include recognition of Lebanese sovereignty and occur concurrently with a cessation of violence in Gaza.

This development coincides with efforts by the United States to facilitate a broader cease-fire in Gaza, which has seen increasing pressure from multiple sides.
