Rabat, July 25, 2025 — In a diplomatic gesture signaling stronger South-South partnerships, Moroccan Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch received Mr. Tran Thanh Man, President of the National Assembly of Vietnam, in the capital city of Rabat on Friday. The high-level talks focused on intensifying bilateral cooperation between the two emerging economies in Africa and Asia.

The official visit marks a new chapter in Morocco–Vietnam relations, with both sides reaffirming their commitment to enhancing political dialogue, economic exchange, and multilateral coordination.

“This meeting reflects our shared vision of a balanced and inclusive international order rooted in mutual respect and economic complementarity,” said Prime Minister Akhannouch during the reception at the Government Palace.

🛠️ Economic and Strategic Cooperation at the Forefront

At the center of the discussions were trade facilitation, agricultural collaboration, energy transition, and investment promotion. Both Morocco and Vietnam are seeking to diversify their partnerships beyond traditional global powers by focusing on cross-continental cooperation, particularly in areas like:

  • Green energy and sustainable development
  • Agro-industrial value chains
  • Textiles, manufacturing, and logistics
  • Infrastructure development

Vietnam expressed interest in strengthening its commercial presence in North Africa, using Morocco as a strategic gateway to the continent. In turn, Morocco sees Vietnam as a vital hub for accessing Southeast Asian markets, particularly in the context of the ASEAN free trade zone.

🏛️ Boosting Parliamentary Diplomacy

The visit also underscored the importance of inter-parliamentary dialogue. Mr. Tran Thanh Man and Moroccan parliamentary officials discussed ways to institutionalize cooperation between legislative bodies, promoting exchanges of expertise in governance, lawmaking, and oversight.

“Our parliaments must become engines of people-to-people diplomacy, fostering trust, legal convergence, and shared democratic values,” said Mr. Man during his joint statement with Moroccan counterparts.

🌍 Geopolitical Context: A Pivot Toward the Global South

This visit comes as both Morocco and Vietnam intensify efforts to position themselves as regional leaders with strong diplomatic networks across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Their shared commitment to multilateralism, sovereignty, and balanced global governance sets the foundation for deeper collaboration in forums such as:

  • The Non-Aligned Movement
  • The United Nations
  • The Group of 77 + China

📈 Looking Ahead

The Moroccan and Vietnamese delegations concluded the meeting with a joint pledge to establish a roadmap for expanded cooperation over the next five years, which will include:

  • High-level business forums
  • Sector-specific MOUs
  • Educational and cultural exchanges
  • Digital infrastructure collaboration

The visit is being hailed by analysts as a strategic milestone for both nations and a tangible step toward a more multipolar global economy.
