Riyadh, July 2, 2025 — Saudi Pro League powerhouse Al Hilal announced on Wednesday that it has signed Moroccan forward Abderrazak Hamdallah on loan from compatriot club Al-Shabab. The agreement runs through Al Hilal’s campaign at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

Hamdallah touched down at the team’s Orlando base on Wednesday evening and is set to join first-team training ahead of Friday’s quarter-final showdown with Brazil’s Fluminense. His arrival provides a timely boost to Al Hilal’s attack, which has been weakened by the absence of Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrović (out with injury) and the early unavailability of winger Salem Al-Dawsari.

The 33-year-old Hamdallah arrives with a prolific scoring pedigree—he netted 157 goals in 122 appearances for Al-Nassr before moving to Al-Shabab—and brings both physicality and pace to Al Hilal’s forward line. His experience on the continental stage will be invaluable as the Riyadh side chase a historic first semi-final berth at the Club World Cup.

This move also carries a hint of redemption: Hamdallah was suspended for three matches and fined last year after a heated altercation with Al Hilal defender Ali Al-Bulayhi during the 2024 AFC Champions League quarter-final. The loan represents a fresh chapter in his career—and a chance to win back the hearts of the “Blue Wave” supporters on football’s world stage.

Al Hilal will face Fluminense at their Orlando venue on Friday evening. A victory would see the Saudi giants advance to Thursday’s semi-final in Jeddah, where they would bid to become the first Asian club to reach the Club World Cup last four.
